Money Hill Plans to Quadruple in Size with a Sustainable Lifestyle Community

The 4,400 acre expansion will include new homesites, pickleball courts, a grocery store and more

Money Hill received the largest zoning approval in St. Tammany Parish history in early December, adding more than 4,400 acres to spread across the PUD (planned unit development), with plans to create a cohesive lifestyle community on their 5,600-acre historic property.

Money Hill’s ongoing community expansion represents a 50-year plan, but will ultimately include a new 18-hole “core-golf” course with restaurants and lodging, pickleball courts, a centralized village with shops, restaurants, a grocery store, offices and community park, community clubhouse amenities, sport fields, expanded lakes, a nature outfitter center, connected walking trails and over 1,700 acres of undeveloped open space, long leaf pine and an oak grove preserve. New homesites for custom home building are already available, with single-family neighborhoods, estate and equestrian lots, traditional cottage neighborhoods, and senior-living facilities planned for the future.

“This represents an exciting new chapter for the future of Money Hill and St. Tammany Parish,” said Mimi Dossett, President of Money Hill. “The opportunity to think and plan long range for parks, greenspaces, lakes and other amenities, and the ability to create new lots in other areas of the property, opens new possibilities for us as we try to grow as necessary to build out a sustainable community while staying true to our ideals of natural beauty and conservation.”

Money Hill has partnered with KoontzJones Design, a land planning and landscape architecture firm based in Pinehurst, North Carolina on the development and community design plan. The firm is renowned across the country for their work in golf course development, planned communities and open space parks.

“Money Hill’s expansion exemplifies the strategic, smart growth that is vital for St. Tammany’s bright future,” said St. Tammany Parish District 6 Councilwoman Cheryl Tanner. “The exceptional quality of life offered by Money Hill will continue to attract new residents to St. Tammany, enriching our region with a thriving community.”

Money Hill has been an integral part of the history and fabric of St. Tammany Parish for over 100 years. It has been run by the Goodyear family since 1905, and initially supported the timber, pulp, paper and tung oil industries. In the latter half of the twentieth century, Money Hill was transformed into a campground and hunting club, still fondly remembered by many in the region, before evolving into the community it is today.

Today, Money Hill is a 5,600-acre property with an existing 18-hole golf course and residential community that sits an hour North of New Orleans in the hills of St. Tammany Parish.
