Your Guide to Mardi Gras Celebrations Around Money Hill

As we enter Carnival season, the Money Hill community is gearing up for all of the festive events that embody the joy and tradition of the season!  From local parades to delicious king cakes, there’s no shortage of ways to celebrate. This guide highlights all the must-see happenings on the Northshore and within Money Hill itself so you don’t miss out on the fun this season!

Money Hill’s Annual Golf Cart Parade: “The Krewe of Money Hill”

First and foremost, mark your calendars for Money Hill’s annual golf cart parade, “The Krewe of Money Hill,” happening on February 16th at 1 PM! Residents are invited to deck out their golf carts with Mardi Gras decorations and join the procession through the neighborhood’s front streets. Bring along your favorite throws for spectators watching from their front yards or along the sidelines. Register here.

To keep the celebration going, the course and club will remain open on Mardi Gras Day, giving members and guests a chance to enjoy the facilities during the holiday festivities.

Northshore Mardi Gras Parades

The Northshore has so many fun, family-friendly parades throughout the seaso. Here are some favorites: 

  • Krewe of Eve (Mandeville): On Friday, February 21st, this all-female krewe will roll through Mandeville, showcasing creative floats and throws.
  • Krewe of Olympia (Covington): Scheduled for Saturday, February 22nd, Olympia is one of the oldest parading krewes on the Northshore, known for its traditional floats and lively atmosphere.
  • Krewe de Paws of Olde Towne (Slidell): Also on February 22nd, this pet parade invites participants to showcase their furry friends in festive attire.
  • Krewe of Mona Lisa and MoonPie (Slidell): Taking place on February 22nd, this unique parade celebrates art and MoonPies, offering a quirky twist to traditional festivities.
  • Krewe of Tchefuncte (Madisonville): On February 22nd, experience a nautical-themed parade as decorated boats cruise along the Tchefuncte River.
  • Krewe of Push Mow (Abita Springs): Right in our backyard, on Sunday, February 23rd, this creative parade features decorated lawn mowers, comedic floats, and marching groups. The event culminates with a “Party in the Park,” offering food, drinks, live music, and costume contests for children under 12.
  • Krewe of Selene (Slidell): On Friday, February 28th, this evening parade lights up the streets of Slidell with illuminated floats and enthusiastic riders.
  • Children’s Museum of St. Tammany Kids Krewe Parade (Mandeville):On Monday, March 3rd at 11AM, this family-friendly parade is perfect for little ones. Held at the Children’s Museum of St. Tammany, the event features kid-friendly floats, marching groups, and plenty of throws, creating a magical Mardi Gras experience for families. 
  • Covington Lions Club and Carnival in Covington: Celebrating on Mardi Gras Day, Tuesday, March 4th, the festivities begin at 10 a.m. with a the Covington Lions Club Parade followed by Carnival in Covington, a 24-float parade featuring over 450 riders. The event concludes at Tammany Gras, a free party at the Covington Trailhead with live music, food, and family-friendly activities.
  • Krewe of Mardi Paws (Covington): On Sunday, March 9th, this delightful dog parade invites participants to dress up their pets, with proceeds benefiting local charities.

No Mardi Gras celebration is complete without king cake! Here are some top spots on the Northshore to satisfy your cravings

  • Randazzo’s Camellia City Bakery (Covington):
