St. Tammany Parish (or the Northshore as it is often dubbed by locals) sits on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, across from New Orleans. As the most affluent parish in Louisiana, it is the home of a number of towns and villages offering cozy bed and breakfast inns, award-winning restaurants and close-to-home shopping. Its historic districts offer antique shops, art galleries, boutiques and more. Public schools serving the area are ranked among the highest in the state, along with a number of highly respected private schools.
Local universities abound as well. Southeastern in Hammond is well respected. Tulane, Loyola, Xavier, Dillard, University of New Orleans and many others can kick-start your career or extend your educational horizons. Several universities offer off-campus, extension courses here on the Northshore.
